As a someone who is currently serving in the Military and one that has served in Iraq, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost some friends in Iraq and it was hard coming back to adjust to the environment but I'm always proud that I served for my country and most likely will be returning in September of 2010 to Iraq or Afganistan.
Having served both in the military, and losing some I knew...it was awful. Also was an LEO and had to several times make that knock on the door...I think that felt worse because of what I was thinking and feeling when I had to give that news to the family.
My thoughts and hopes go out for you and your family.
May your family find strength and happiness in the memories of your son always. Your son, and all the other courageous solders out there, will always have my family's appreciation and respect. You have our deepest sympathies, and your son has our highest admiration for his sacrifice.
