Default Passing lights

I bought amber sealed beams from J and P to replace the halogen passing lights. I was told they would fit my 2009 Road King. When I got them I see that they do not plug in like the halogen light but the wires on the back of the plug in the light housing need to be cut and attached to posts on either side of the back of the sealed beam. There is one wire going from the plug back to the bike and one wire from the plug attached to the inside of the housing (ground I suppose). Does it make a difference which side of the sealed beam I attach either wire and/or should I just return the lights because I will screw up my bike? I am obviously not a mechanic, I just thought they would make the bike stand out more at night as well as during the day and do it myself to save some money. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

I've had to alter some of those that customers bring in. The best thing to do is ask yourself if you wanna cut into your wires or just get the style yours needs.

I don't really want to cut the wires. I thought maybe there was a pigtail adaptor or something I could get instead. Thanks

Why don't you just get some shielded male and female ends, some 14 guage stranded wire and make some short little jumper wires? It really is no big deal. If you are worried about polarity, get your DVOM out and see which one is hot or not. The other one will be the ground. If this is beyond the scope of your abilities then find someone to help you out. I am not trying to give you a hard time. If you can't do it properly, seek help.

the sealed beams you got from J&P are NOT polarity sensitive. Meaning it don't matter what terminal on the sealed beam gets the hot or the ground wire.
If you want your fog / passing lamps to stay on with Low OR High beams, just follow this simple diagram.
