This may be old news, I haven't been around here much lately, but I was at Smokey Mountain Harley last night and they were talking about the new bike week they're sponsoring next year tentatively scheduled for the third week in May. They said it was to fill the void left by Myrtle Beach Bike week going to hell. The city leaders are behind it and the Convention Center downtown is going to be where the vendors will set up and the town is going to block off at least two streets for the bikers.....something never done before for anyone in Gatlinburg. They say they are still working out with city leaders an amendment to the open container law also. Should be a great rally with a lot of great riding in the mountains.

 

I won't be able to make it the first year due to other trips already planned but if they do this then the second year I'll definitely be there.

 

That would be cool. A lot of great riding up there in that area and the timing would work for us. The next week is Thunder Beach so that would give us time to get to be at both. I just hope the hotels up there do jack up the prices like most of the other rallys.

 

Hotels in Gatlinburg are overpriced...PERIOD!
That town is a gd tourist trap.

 

Stay in Townsend & ride Little River Rd. into the event. Just a suggestion...........

 

Man this sounds cool they have big car shows all summer long so im sure they can handle a bike week

 

I was just there last week for 4 days, hit all 3 stores, rode the Dragon, and hung out. I too saw the flyers about the bike week,thought it is a great idea. Of course it will over-crowd G-burg, so probably will spill over into Pigeon Forge/ Sevierville. I have already got it marked to attend. For me up here in Ky its only a 3 hr easy ride from house to hotel. Hope to see fellow forum members there. Maybe someone could put together a meet and greet for forum members

 

I respectfully disagree with you Badpiggy, I live 90 miles from Gatlinburg. my wife and I are up there all the time. We stay at different Hotels and usually get a place under 100.00 dollars a night. I'm making my reservations now for the rally.. Love it up there...so much good riding in the area.
