Default Chrome display Stand 91573-09

Just bolted a new chrome display stand to my 2009 FLHT (no Loctite yet). When in raised position, it bumps up againt the stock exhaust crossover. H-D instructions say it shouldn't touch anything. Has anyone run into this problem, and is there a solution?

Default Display Stand '09 Models

I have one installed on my '09 Ultra. When taking the bike off the stand by pushing forward, the stand kind of smacks the crossover pipe. It hasn't caused any damage though, just makes a smacking sound. It doesn't rub the pipe though but rides very close in the retracted position. I've had it on the bike for around 5,000 miles with no problems.

In this case the stand is right up against the crossover pipe. No space separating the two.

Default Follow-up

Just got off the phone with H-D Customer Care about the problem with the Chrome Display Stand hitting the crossover pipe on my '09 FLHT. They responded to my complaint letter very quickly, but did not have much to say regarding a solution to the problem. Rep said he was aware of other owners having same issues upon installation. Attributed this to the close tolerances between stand and exhaust along with slight variations in mass-produced bikes. Seems like the tolerances should have been relaxed a bit during design of the stand to allow for this variation.
On a somewhat positive note, I returned the item to the dealer (Lake Shore H-D) for a refund with no hassle. Would have liked to use a Harley part, but in this case it looks like I'll be going to the aftermarket for a center stand that works.

You did yourself a favor by returning it. Do yourself another favor and get yourself a Wheeldock center stand. I don't recall if they are a sponsor, but search for Wheeldock and you'll see how many happy campers have them.
