Default 2010 Header Options

I'm weighing my options for upgrading my intake and exhaust system. So far the only mods I've done are Rinehart slipons. After reading the post on removing the CAT in the head pipe, I cannot rest until I get that hunk of chit out of there. Now I just want to replace the whole header. If i could afford it, I'd go with the D&D Fat Cat 2:1 but the price is a little steep for me right now. Since Rinehart is releasing their 2010 fitmat, I thought I'd go with it until I found out I have to purchase the complete system for a grand. I looked at the V&H Power Duals but don't think I'll get much on my return of investment. The dresser duals header is in the right price range but haven't seen much on it. I'm also looking to get a SE heavy breather and a tuner. As far as the tuner goes, I'm leaning towards the pc-v. Any suggestions?

I'm just starting to research pipes for my 2010 FLHTK. I'll probably go Dresser Duals from V&H. I have them on my 07 and they are great. So I'll probably go dresser duals and thunder header muffs like I have now.. or maybe I'll put on rhinehart muffs... not exactly sure yet. I'm going to use a SE Race Tuner for the tune or maybe get a Thunder Max ECU if they start to sell them in early 2010.

I was looking at the D and D Fat Kat, but I just can't learn to love the sound of a 2-1 at idle... it just doesn't sound as good as duals to me.

Scary

Can't speak much to the other brands, but as far as the V&H Power Duals and Dresser Duals go I would stay away from them if you do any riding in the twisties at all. I had the Dresser Duals on my 09 RKC and I grinded the chrome on the lower heat shield on a couple of occasions when I was in the mountains. I found that I would actually touch down the heat sheild on the lower pipe before I started scrubbing my floorboard. I'd look at the BUB 7 TDX Duals, they look like they won't affect the lean angle of the bike.

I have the power duals and the right heat sheild touches at the same time as the footboard bracket (ie after the tip of the board touches)

Mine is quite scratched, but it isnt visible unless you lie under the bike and look.

IMHO the PDs dont impede hard cornering. I dont like scraping them but as I said you are already scraping the board hard by then.

If you are sticking with a 96 inch then the exhaust isnt gonna make a huge difference, it will come down to what you like the sound and look of.

My PDs give the bike an awesome mid range, you cant beat a 2-1.

Default Look at Bubs

I have an 2010 SG. I am waiting for the Bub & TDs. I am also adding the SE Heavy breather and the PCV with AutoTune. There are some good write ups on the bubs on the forums. I have had a few members PM me and tell me to add the Heavy breather over the SEAC. As for the ECM, I had the PCV with AT on my road king and was happy with it.

Default Another option

FulSac performance is also developing a 2010 head pipe to eliminate the cat in the touring bikes. I was told by Steve yesterday that they should be available in two weeks.

Having the V and H dresser duals with the widow slip ons installed. Also getting the SE heavy breather with the HD race tuner. Will let you know how it is as soon as they are finished.

I'm also doing the research for my 2010 ultra. I installed the V&H 2 into 1 exhaust on my 07 ultra and got a very noticeable increase in low end torque. The CAT's have to go on the 2010, that's for sure. This time around I think the stainless 2 into 1 into 2 from jackpotmufflers is the way I'll go. It makes sense to me to keep the look of dual exhaust and also get the added performance too! The dyno results from fuelmotto for thier package with the woods cams is pretty impressive! This upgrade will happen in the very near future for me.
