I have an '09 FLHR. Had an '03 FLHR before that. When riding, after about thirty minutes my hands would start to be numb. On my current bike, I swapped out the
stock bars for the Heritage "Style" bars. Rode from here in N. Texas to northern Alabama a week ago, (649.3 miles) and back, (712.5 miles), 12 or so hours both
ways, and no numbness in my hands. The Heritage style bars are not a bad idea
to upgrade to since you don't need new cables. You ought to try them.

+1 on the Wild One 518's. I'm 5'9" and they fit me to a T. They're 1 1/4", look absolutely great and still leaves the bike with the Road King Classic look.

My RKC is an 09. For those of you that have Hertigage Style bars on your RKC's I have heard that the wrist angle is a little uncomforatable or awkward. Anyone notice that?

Also, how does the Hertiage Style compare to the RK High Handlebar p/n 55954-00

Wild 1 Chubbys 508's work great for me, or for a little bit more spread the 518's are popular.

I believe the 508's have more pull-back than the 518's and might fit you better (of course 'fit' is quite personal). If you decide to buy the Wild 1's call their techies first. They were quite helpful when I bought mine. Here's a picture of my bike with the 518's:

This spring I switched out for the Heritage style handlebars. Someone made the comment of an awkward feeling? It was a little different feeling at first, but now very comfortable and my shoulder blades don't hurt on the longer trips. Wished this was first modification I would of made when I purchased the bike. You have plenty of choices when it comes handlebars. Hopefully you get right the first time.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go with the Heritage Style.

I am 5'10" and went with the Chubby 10" mini apes. Work very well for me with the Le Pera Monterey seat.
