Default street glide battery removal

I just bought a 09 street glide and I need to put a plug for a battery tender on the battery. I couldn't get the battery cover off because of siler brace that has a tongue on it. I can't get it to slip far enough ahead to get it off. Any tips? thanks for any help

Should be a plug under the seat that you can plug the tender into

I believe dealers stopped putting plugs on in the PDI's due to cost cutbacks. Anyhow, once you remove the seat you should be able to pop up the ECM plate and gain access to the battery. It's a biotch, but you can do it.

I just went out and accessed my battery in about 5 min. on my 2009 SG. And my bike did not come with a battery tender connector.

Remove rear seat to access battery area.

Remove ECM and move to the side.

Remove (2) bolts with 1/2" socket to plastic battery cover.

Push plastic battery cover forward over steel tab and remove.

And now you have access to the battery to add your battery tender connector.

Thanks for the help, I just couldn't get the cover to slide forward enough, but I'll give it another shot when my hands thaw out. How does the ECM unplug? I just moved it to the side.

You don't need to unplug it to do what you are doing, but if you look at bman's pics you'll see a grey lever that you pull to the side and then unplug it.

Not sure if you bought your SG new or used. Bought my 09 off the dealer floor. It came with the battery tender wiring and plug installed. The plugin hangs out in the wiring bundles just behind the transmission.

I bought mine brand new off the floor. It must be up to the dealership to install now.
