plugs are cheap, change them out at each oil change. Which reminds me, I forgot to change my plugs last weekend

i've been using the autolites for years. on my carbed sporty, i used to change them out every oil change. with the fi road king, once a year.

my local advance usually has them on sale, about $1.50 a plug.

plugs are one of the most overlooked items in maintenance. people usually don't think about them until their engine doesn't fire anymore. and it doesn't make any sense, its not like they are super expensive. about the cost of a couple of cokes. like said, cheap insurance.

using your logic, you might as well take your bike in to the service counter and say 'i'd like my oil changed', pay (out the ***!), and leave..... some folks like to do stuff themselves, and save some money as well. like you said, plugs are not really that magical. so why pay 2 - 3 times as much for them?

Autolites are fine. I've tried most of the popular plugs including iridium plated.
No difference in performance. Iridium probably last longer but not 4X.

platinum is a poor conductor. that's why they transfer less metal and last longer. an Autolite iron plug will outperform a platinum plug but won't last as long. ANY new plug will seem to run better initially than a worn plug.

I wonder if that's true for iridium as well? Seems to be a popular choice for those wanting to try something different.
I haven't found anything that performs better (or worse) than the $1.50 Autolites.

I've used Autolights in everything I own since the mid 70's they work well and last longer than most.
