Bought this one Sept 07 now only 17,000 miles and the stator burned up last month it was the front wheel bearings ,Pryor to that it was the front and rear sprockets and belt that was covered by HD and the fuel filter canister the bearings I was 1 month out of warranty and now have the bike apart waiting for back ordered stator ,So is it just bad luck or is this going to keep happening I do all the maintenance and don't beat the **** out of it so just a little leary of the bike now had a friend that was riding with me this time where we were able to get it towed back to the house wondering if this one is a money pit

That's a lot of problems for a 2 year old bike. If it were me and I could afford it, I would trade it off for a different bike I could trust. It's no fun having it in the shop all the time and I wouldn't trust it on a long trip. But that's just me.

What is the Stator? Is it part of the charging system?

Yes, it's the wound wire part of the generating system. Had one go out on mine about a month ago while on a trip. When they go out you are running on the battery.

Wow! I have 36,500 on my '08 Ultra and have not had any issues at all. Now I'm starting to worry.

Granted it`s not a good sign but everything you do to repair something should be bullet proof from that point on.

bullet proof sounds great now if I can only convince myself that nothing else will fail ,had a 71 FLH that was better at trips than this one has been need some hope and reassuring just a little ticked off at the way this has been going
