Default MPG: What do you get?

I have a 2008 Ultra Classic and I am getting anywhere from 34-38 mpg. I thought I would get a bit better. I bought this bike 4 weeks ago. I have rented several 2008 ultras and gotten 40 plus on all occasions. What do you get and any suggestions would be welcome.

I get between 37-45 MPG depending on my wrist twist and where I'm riding. Blowing down the Interstate at 75+ will reduce the milage. My higher milage is in the mountains, guess this is due to downhill coasting-no load-high engine vacuum conditions. Prolly 40 is my average.

I agree, I average around 35-40 mpg. It can go up or down, a little, depending on how I ride. I usually ride pretty hard though. I use the high grade stuff too, when I can. For what that's worth.

Normally a 40 average. I've gotten as high as 58 touring Colorado and as low as 27 just a couple of weeks ago.

27 on I-10 heading into a strong wind at 82mph.

Friend was on the same ride on a 06 SG and ran dry at the 145 mile mark. The bike actually died at the exit ramp and coasted into the fuel stop.

145 miles / 5.25 (empty tank) = 27.62 mpg

You didn't say if your bike was stock or had the stage I and pipes.

I have a 103/255 big bore and get 38 when taking it easy and 34 when I am not taking it so easy.

'06 SG - 100hp/100tq w/5 speed. I usually get 38-42 around town but get 45-50 on the road at 70 mph or less. At 80 mph it'll drop down to 40-45 mpg. After that it drops off fast. My lowest mark so far was 35 mpg against a strong headwind at 75+ mph.

I don't check the mileage very often, but on trips when loaded down and riding two-up, I average 43-48. I was always pretty happy with that.

I get 35mpg/city and 40mpg/highway with my 2009 Ultra riding duo all the time. I'm not pushing the bike to the limit but I'm not a slow rider either. I have a SE AC, PCV and aftermarket pipes and the map I use is more for cooler engine temperature (richer) than for performance.
