That is what I thought to but the plugs tell me different. They look to be burning clean light tan to greyish. No fuel fouling. Any other ideas as I am open to ideas. Anything to get better fuel milage. The bike runs great other than it just sucks the gas.

 

try adding a few degrees of timing at your cruising rpm, or lowering the needle a notch or 2,(raising the clip) as engine temp and lack of detonation will allow. you can always go back to the way it is now.
with some methodical, thought out adjustments you can get that carb to run good and get good mpg's. remember: ONLY do one change at a time and analyze the results.

Any where from 42-50.

 

Average = 38.5
High = 41.2
Low = 35.3

 

Usually 40 - 45.

 

103 gets 35/38 , 98 evo gets 40 , 78 sporty gets 50

On the interstate, with cruise engaged at 75mph I get between 42-44 mpg. I can go just a tad over 200 miles before having to stop to get fuel. That leaves me with about 1/2 gallon left in the tank. On the back roads running at 55 mph I am getting a bit over 50 mpg.

My Ultra Classic doesn't get as good a mileage as my RK did, but than it is a bit heavier as well. It's a good trade off for the comfort, fairing, and radio though.

 

Thanks KansasRK for your response. Have lowered the needle one notch for now will see if that helps. Can lower needle more later if I need to. Didnt notice any power loss so maybe headed in the right direction. Will add some timing next but I am with u on doing one thing at a time. Anyway thanks for helping this newbie out. This forum is a great place to learn.
