I had an 04 RK and enjoyed it. Prior to that I had a Fatboy. I currently have an 07 EG Standard and must say that I enjoy the full fairing vs. the detachable fairing of the RK. Maybe it's because I'm getting up in my age...
I think the EG is a more comfortable ride that the SG and would say it's just as comfortable possibly more comfortable (due to the fairing) than the RK.
So not to make it more confusing but I would test drive the RK, SG, and the EG. We all know it's a very individual decision and the way to make the best choice is to test drive.

Do the SG's have a rear air shock like the Road King's?

I believe they do only they are shorter...meaning less travel...meaning rougher ride.

Although I ride solo on my Road King Classic, it is an excellent touring bike and a comfortable ride.
