Question 06,07,08 Street Glide - which to buy?

Narrowed my bike choice to a SG. Here are my options. #1 - 06 SG with 6,200 miles with about $1,000 in accessories at $12,500 black cherry with no cruise or security. #2 - 07 SG with 7,000 miles with $3,400 in accessories for $14,500 vivid black with no cruise or security. #3 - 08 SG with 3,500 miles with only $400 in accessories for $14,500 vivid black with security and cruise, no ABS. Please help, I'm trying to get the best value for my money.

Thanks much.

Why just these three? Where are you located? I would lean to the 08, but I'd find one with ABS. There are many, many bikes like this for sale around me, all sorts of options and similar pricing. ABS, for me, was a must have. Will bring a good resale as well.

I live in Southern Wisconsin. These are the lowest priced bikes around for that year range. These are all private owner bikes - dealers around hear ask way too much for used.

Well, I would say since your weather is turning bad, like ours, wait until you find the exact one you want. Unless your set on buying right now. Must haves are, ABS, Cruise and maybe a good set of exhaust/tune. Seat, backrest, etc. All the chrome can be added, but the must haves are what you want to find on the bike. Or better yet, find a stock bike for chump change and make it yours.

Good luck!

On the ABS: I ride 2-up 99% of the time, and it's already saved our bacon twice. A panic situation is where it saves your ***. It works, and I have ridden both non-ABS and ABS bikes. Well worth the $7 or $800, or whatever it is.

Of the 3, I'd get the 08. Lots of nice upgrades over the 06,07.

I would go with the 08. Decent price and you can add WHAT YOU WANT. Better trade-in value later, has 6 speed tranny (not on 06), bigger tank (not on 7), brembo brakes (not on 6 or 7) and newer. ABS is not worth the money so don't let that stop you on anything as the brembo by itself is a great addition to the break setups for harleys. Just more control without ABS in my opinion and I've only been riding for 40 years without them so I don't understand some peoples logic that they "just have to have them". Just my thoughts on which one you should choose. Good luck.

Here's one of the best deals I've seen and it is right here on the forum. I'm sure Oklahoma can't be than far from you. Last time I checked the thread I believe the price was down to 18K or around there.

06 has the 88 ci and 5 speed tranny

07 has the 96 ci and 6 speed tranny

08 has the 96 ci and 6 speed plus 6 gallon tank, IDS, TBW,

I'd go for the 08

If I was buying new, I'd go for the ABS, but since I'm buying used, not a big concern. The 08 has remaining warranty until April 2010, but since I live in WI, that doesn't really matter because the snow will be here soon enough. Maybe it is better to wait until spring, but $14,500 doesn't sound too bad for a bike with 3,500 miles that cost over $20,000 18 months ago.

Don't underestimate the value of ABS. Already saved my wallet and body twice. I'd go with an 08!

Bite the bullet, get the 09 or 010, with ABS, you wont be sorry. You might as well get the Ultra now instead of doing the normal train stop on the way to the Ultra destination anyway, take the express.
