I installed mine about 3 weeks ago now and they really add to the tour pack. They blend in very well with the rest of the chrome. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to install. I was real careful drilling out the old rivets so as not to scratch any paint.

I appreciate the pointers. I have tried to read all the threads about these hinges. I can't believe they aren't standard on the new ones. Now that these are out, the old ones really look cheap and ugly!

FYI: Ordered hinges and an oil cooler this morning at about 2am. Called today to see if I could add to my order (which you can't) and it was already being processed. FREE SHIPPING IS FAST SHIPPING......But these guys are always fast.

Thank you...... lshd1.com

FREE shipping if order over $100 thru Friday!!

The Premium Tour-Pak Hinge Kit part number changed from 79211-08 to 79211-08A. The suffix indicates that there has been a design change but not exactly sure what the change is.

Follow the directions, remove the hinge pins and take the top off. Easy to do by yourself, no help needed. Drill the old rivets from the inside. Almost impossible to scratch the paint as long as you put the top on a safe surface. (I used a towel).

....... maybe the redesign enables the hinges to be used on earlier TPs ?
..... the premium hinges didn't use to fit pre '06 i think.

HD is smart - they Don't make them standard BECAUSE we pay extra to change them out... Why do you think they give all new owners an accessory catalog???? LOL..

They do look nice - Are they a more strong/sturdy hinge or do they just look better???

One of the cheapest and easiest mods I've done. Since I didn't have an extra set of hands, did one at a time and it seemed to work pretty well. In other words, remove 1 old one, replace with a new one, then do the other.
