Default What year Street Glide to buy ??

I currently have two Soft Tails and Ive been thinking alot of trading one of them in for a SG. Keeping the Night Train for barhoping and crusing around locally and using the SG for longer weekend rides with the O Lady.
I guess the ?? is, Is there a particular year that SG guys would prefer over others for any particular reason ? Lets hear your thoughts..

if you keep one for solo I would go with 09-10 SG or maybe a EGC for comfort and the tour box.

Depends on your money status. I don't care much for the 09/10's models but they do have the newer frame (but also sit up higher...not good for regular sized folk).... I would go with an 08 as it's going to be cheaper than the newer models and it also has the 6 speed tranny/bigger gas tank than the older models.

Every year they seem to make improvements:

'06 and before - 5 speed and 88 motor
'07 - 6 speed and 96 motor
'08 - 6 speed and 96 motor and 6 gallon gas tank
'09 - 6 speed and 96 motor and 6 gallon gas tank and 180 rear tire and new frame

Buy whatever you can afford, you will love any year you get.

I would recommend the '09 with the new frame, but that's just me.

09. The 2010 has a catalyst in the head pipe and a 2 into1 exhaust, unless you plan on changing the whole exhaust system. I like 2 mufflers out the back of a bagger. The 2010 also has a 18" front wheel. MO

+1 on the 09. I had an 06 Ultra and the 09 seemed far superior. The bigger back tire looks pretty sweet as well.

I just sold my 04 Softail Deuce and bought an 06 Street Glide and I absolutely love it. I don't have any reservations about my purchase whatsoever. I like the 88ci motor. I have ridden the 96ci's and I don't think they have enough of an increase in power for it to make much of a difference. The 95ci kits will destroy any stock 96ci out there making the 88ci's a more appealing motor to me. I get plenty of range out of the older, smaller tank. Each tank will last about as long as my butt would like. I am used to having a much wider rear tire and the 06 is pretty narrow, but i can live with that. Rear tires will be cheaper anyways. I think all of the Street Glides look sweet and I don't think you could really screw up by purchasing any of them. I have gone and looked at the 10's and I am not a fan of the single rear exhaust. Just my preference there. Okay, I have said enough. Good luck and enjoy.

Default I purchased the 10 SG

I agree with the other posts recommending the 09 and newer. I really like the back tire. I can ride more aggressive into the corner. On my 08 RK i was scrapping boards, have not done that yet on the SG.

I like the new motor, of course I wish it were a 103 or 107...

Pipes, yeah the pipes are warm, I will be changing them as soon as the bubs are available. Which BTW, I didn't keep stock on my 08 either.

I also recommend Cruise for either year.
