My personal choices
True duals: Bassani works very well with stage 2 or less for performance and they sound similar to a t-header but more robust when using the megaphone mufflers.
V & H are great sounding and they are loud when using the SE mufflers.

2:1 headers work very well with any stage builds. Here's my list.
T-header, very nice sound and very loud
D&D fat cat, very nice sound and pretty loud.
V & H pro pipe, very nice sound and pretty loud.

the fat cat has a quiet baffle option too. Not sure if the V & H has one.

OK, seems the majority favor TD's. I prefer the look of TD's but didn't want to miss out on more horses if they are available. Guess it's TD's, now which ones???

Good choice! I have Samson pipes with S&S oval mufflers. Not too loud IMHO, but if they are there are optional quiet inserts.

The ghost pipe is a 20lb dummy muffler put on the left side under the saddle bag to make it look like you have dual exhaust, but there nothing comes out of it. To me, its a waste of money.

I like my tru duals. The PCIII is mapped for them. I'm sure I could make more power with a 2-1 but it is not that important to me for the small gain. They sound good and there is less heat with out the crossover pipe.

That's a good point I hadn't considered. Heat! Out here that is a real issue so TD's for sure!

Thanks.

I used a set of Rineharts when I first got my bike and it looked nice and sounded good.
I then changed to a FATCAT 2-1 system and the bike runs so much better it's hard to believe, it sounds great and anyone one that would give up this much performance just so they can see a pipe hanging out both sides must be a little **** or compulsive!
