Here's a couple more pics of polished forks. I did these earlier this year when i changed my tires and had the front wheel off. I've done a few sets before so it's no big deal if you have an air tool with a buffer wheel and the right compound. They don't have to be polished every week either, about once a month does it. Had a couple bikes with chrome lower forks and both eventually wound up with dinged up chrome from road debris and gravel, i learned better.
I think you did a great job, but I wouldn't trade my chrome lowers for all that work any day. Once a month? Geez, that's some serious riding time devoted to scrubbin'.... Guess my riding season is too short to want to spend it polishing. I've had the chrome lowers on my last three scoots, and I love em. Much easier to maintain, and I love the look. I must say that those polished lowers DO look a TON better than the stockers. Well done!
did you pull the wheel and fender to get behind there or did you just manage around it?? and if you used real fine sand paper would it have to be with soap and water like wet sanding a car??
