'09 FLHT was greased as part of 1000 mi. service at dealer in April. Was wiping it (and the bike) daily all summer; especially on sides of gas tank and fronts of saddlebags. Next service I'll certainly tell them to do only the bare minimum with the grease gun. Seems like some sort of cuff could be designed for the bottom of the tube.

Mine did that for four years and it was only lubed one time. I traded for the 09 and it's not getting any grease.
Dumb non-wrench question. I had my bike serviced around 20K. They did the front end..fluids (?). Can't remember, but it was expensive.. $5-600. Is this greaser thing the same? If so, I won't have that done next 20K
I use marine grease, just to ensure the waterproof protection. You've got to get the 45 or 90 degree zerk to make it work with a normal grease gun. If not, just roll into your local HD shop, and ask the service manager to hit it once with theirs. They did that for me for a long time till I just bit the bullet and changed the zerk. They'll usually just do it for free.
