An 09 with 5th gear wine??? all i thought i read about when the 09s came out was the helical-cut 5th gear to eliminate wine.

Yes, if you hold the clutch for while, it won't clunk. I was on a Patriot Guard ride a while back it was funny to hear every body "clunk" into gear at the same time.

Just put it in first before you start the engine.
The bike will jump even though you have the clutch pulled in, so be carefull.

I have almost 40k on my 07 Ultra and it still does it. 35K on my wifes 1200 XL and hers still does it. I just put it in first pull in the clutch and then start it

The "clunk" you hear are the cut gears of 1st & 5th on the 08's. The rest are Helical. In 09, all the gears are Helical.

All the 09's have the 5th gear whine, it's the 2010's that have all helical cut gears. I don't mind the whine it helps me keep track of what gear I'm in and it does get a little quieter after a few thousand miles.
