Ditto, i do it everytime after cold starts. It doesnt completely go away but it does help. Also i dont mind the clunk into first, its a harley thing.
Yes, if you hold the clutch for while, it won't clunk. I was on a Patriot Guard ride a while back it was funny to hear every body "clunk" into gear at the same time.
The more miles you get on it the less it will clunk, Redline does help.
I have almost 40k on my 07 Ultra and it still does it. 35K on my wifes 1200 XL and hers still does it. I just put it in first pull in the clutch and then start it
All the 09's have the 5th gear whine, it's the 2010's that have all helical cut gears. I don't mind the whine it helps me keep track of what gear I'm in and it does get a little quieter after a few thousand miles.
