Learn to use the fuel remaining feature and reset your odometer when you top off each time. Forget the gauge. They've been worthless for decades. I don't even know mine is there. I almost removed it for another gauge install.

I don't even know if I have a low fuel light on my '02. If I do, i've never been that low but i have ran the guage down to 'e' once or twice...and I searched online for a product such as this to carry, not so much for myself but for others that I've came across out of gas (ok, or myself if I ever end up in that spot). Couldn't find anything at that time so I'm glad you posted.

At the 1/2 tank mark, I probably have about 1/4 tank left. I don't really understand what's so hard about making an accurate gas gauge. It's not freaking rocket science! Oh well! Like everyone else, I use the odometer.

Ride safe!

on my 2000 electra glide -- it has been pretty accurate -- with showing the amount of gas left as to compared to miles ridden --

however on a couple of occassions after filling the tank, the gauge has not read completely full -- but on the next fill up -- it is where it should be

also since I have a petcock on my bike -- I have found that reserve doesn't always come on at the same amount of gas left in the tank -- it can fluctulate between haing 8 tenths left to having 5 tenths left - -to me that is strange as no other bike I've owned has ever varied when the reserve is hit.

I use a combination of the trip odometer and the range function. I agree it is not very accurate but in my experience, my cages are no more accurate either.

from full to 3/4 of a tank I can go 100 miles, after that you can see the gauge move as you ride down the road, when the light comes on I can go 23 miles ( I know that for sure, more than once) does anyone else get water in there gauge?

This thread also reinforces why it's a good idea to have a fairly accurate idea of the MPG you get on your bike.

A fuel gauge, especially one on a motorcycle that leans around, is merely meant to be a very rough estimate of how much fuel you have.

I'd say have a trip odometer set up if you have one, or remember your miles if your bike even has a regular odometer.

I can't pull my cap and look, because I have EFI and all that crap blocks your view of the inside of the tank.

If you have a low fuel light... it's supposed to light up when you have about one gallon of fuel left... mine has gone off when I have two gallons.

IMO, the less gas you have, the less accurate your gauge is. I'm sure the fuel is just sloshing around, so I'm never going to expect a very accurate gauge for motorcycles.

If the float assy is like the '06 touring models, remove the assy from the tank then just bend the float arm a little up or down for a lower/higher reading.
May take a few tries.

The dealer had replaced the float assy and gage at 100miles.It did not work off the showroom floor.
Anyway after the repair it was always reading about a 1/4 full at empty.

Hey Clint, what size bottle do you use? I found these on-line but there are various sizes and I would like to get one that fits in the rail pouch like you show on your bike.

Thanks
