StreetGlide mods for shorter riders

Although I'm happy with my Heritage, everytime I go into a dealer a Streetglide keeps calling my name. At 5'8" I already know if I succumb to the temptation I'm going to have to make some fitting mods to it.
I'd like to be able to flatfoot the bike and stand up comfortably while straddling it like I can with my Heritage. I can't do that with the stock 2010 SG.
Seems obvious first step would be a seat with a more narrow crotch area. Then if that's not enough it would be a matter of lowering the rear more.
Question I have is how much more can an SG be lowered before the ride is compromised too much. From what I've read seems alot of owners complain about a stiff ride and bottoming out even w/o lowering.
Also, if there's any SG owners that were former softailers I'd also be interested in hearing any pros/cons about making the switch.
Thanks,
Jim

with that said.. You have two full inches on me... I ride a FLHTCI stock shocks both front and back... NO PROBLEMS at all..
Corbin seat - made at the factory with me there - makes all the difference.
Redwing boots..
thats all..
lowering the shocks will lower the bike but the ride will suffer - mainly for the passanger..

I'm 5'8" also. I have an 09 SG. I had the stock seat cut narrower in the crotch area and lowered the rear 1". I wouldn't go any lower than that. I've had no problems with rear fender rubbing etc. I've got about 7000 miles on mine now and it works for me. Get the SG...you won't regret it.

I'm 5'4" with 29 inch inseam.
I put a Harley reach seat and back rest on my 2009 Street Glide and the H-D front end lowering kit on. Also installed wild1inc.com chubby bagger bars for more pull back and a little taller rise on the bars.
I traded a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic in on this bike. I've put over 7,000 miles on the Street Glide and haven't looked back.
I did take the front end lowering kit back off because I felt the bike was more aggresive in high speed turns at the stock height but thats just my personal preference.
I love the handling, stability on the highway and over grooves, radio, cruise control and smoothness at highway speeds. I also like not dragging floor boards any more like I did on my Heritage.

C&C seat and Hi-Lo air ride system make me flat footed and comfortable on my 2006.
