Default 09 Rear Tire Isuue??

I had my front 407 swapped out for a 408 under warrenty but didn't think to have the rear checked. Now I'm reading here that some folks have had the rear 407 swapped as well. Is there a new version of the rear 407? or are they replacing it with the same tire?

The 407 on the rear does not have the front, D407F, tire cupping problem. No need to change it unless it's worn out.

Haven't heard of any complaints with the rear 407 on the '09s. I got 20k out of my rear 407 and it wore perfectly all the way to the end.

my rear 407 was feathered and farked after 6000 hard miles. They definitely feather too if you give them hell.

I had the front 407 replaced with a 408 @ 4800 miles. They also replaced the front wheel beering. It was noisey and unstable in slow turns.
At 5200 the rear was making a terrible noise in turns. I dropped it off at the dealer and they found a badly cupped rear tire and a rear beering gone bad. The moco denied the rear tire but my dealer is awesome and replaced it anyway. There is no updated tire for the front so they replaced it with another 407.
I sure wish there were other options for tires on these bikes.
I also had the transmission leaking oil and they found loose bolts on it.
with all the tire and beering issues and also the fact that the suspension sucks, I am terribly dissapointed in my recent purchase. I would love to find out if the 2010's are any better.I have replaced the rear shock oil and also the front fork oil. I have to run 50psi in the shocks and it still slams over moderate bumps in the road.

My rear tire developed hairline cracks all the way around the tire between the different tread compounds. The dealer replaced it at 10K miles at no charge.

I just had my 09 EGC in this past week and my Dealer changed out both front and rear under warranty. I had 11,800 miles on my tires. He put a 408F on the front and a 407 on the rear. He said they were not having as much problems with rear tires as front's, but they were seeing some rear cupping. He didn't find anything wrong with my wheel bearing's. I ride two up most of the time and I'm easy on my bike as well. I don't think I've had it over 4K on the tach. I ride in the mtn's a lot, but I'm very slow and enjoy the scenery. The 408F looks like a 407 with the tread turned around?

Dunlop E3 or Avon Cobra in 180/60-16. The difference in height will be unnoticeable compared to the stock 180/65-16.
