How Many Miles on front tire?
I am getting ready to put a new rear tire on my 00 rkc. the bike has almost 19,000 miles on it. the bacj tire definetly need to be replaced but the fron still looks good. all the stealers have been telling me that you should only get about 15,000 miles out of the front tire, just wanted to know what everyone elses opinion was, should i replace the front and the rear or just the rear? how many miles are you guys & girls getting out ogf a front tire? if it matters it is the orignal dunlop front tire, the back has been replaced once.

RE: How Many Miles on front tire?
I have over 22,000 on my original front tire......and it still has some life left in it. Will replace it when I change the rear again. BTW, Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse has great prices on tires. I always buy the OEM Dunlops. Just purchased a rear on special for 99.95 plus 10 bucks shipping. They have weekly eMail specials and this is one of them for this week. Good company and good service.

RE: How Many Miles on front tire?
I replaced the rear at 9,000--it could have gone on another 1000 or so miles but I was leaving on a cross-country trip and replaced it anyway. My mechanic says 1 front for every 2 1/2 rear. I think it's like cars--the way you treat the tires makes a big difference. You might get twice as many miles if you do a lot of freeway riding and less if you do a lot of stop and go, fast acceleration, hard braking, etc.

RE: How Many Miles on front tire?
I ride an 05 Road King.
I changed my rear tire at 8,000 and now am ready to change both the front and rear at 16,000. Most of my riding is two up and in about 40 miles of twisties leaving and coming home.
I mount and balance my own tires so I can do it whenever necessary and not be at the mercy of a stealer's prices or schedule.
