Default Fluid changes, how often?

Don't have an owners manual for my bike. It's an 05 FLHT, 27,000 miles and new cam tensioners. Very particular about it, and have been paying for all my services. Wanna try doing them myself. If I'm running Amsoil or Mobile 1 in all 3 holes, how often do I need to replace the crankcase, primary, and transmission fluids. As of yet I've done all the services using SE synthetic. Had them done I should say.

oil and filter with synthetic every 5k.. trans every 20k... primary every 10k.. I dont think it matters if your using synthetic or dino in the trans and primary but id use a regular 10w40 in the primary and a good trans lube in the trans. Do a search there is a lot of info out here ion lubricants

When I bought my bikes, the shop said 5k for synthetic and 2.5k for mineral oil (crankcase). 5k for the primary and transmission. The owners manual on my 98 evo King says 2.5k engine oil and 5k primary & transmission. I don't remember what my 08 dyna manual says but I think the transmission is 10k.

The touring bikes hold 4 quarts of engine oil so a 5k mile engine & primary and a 10k transmission schedule should be fine with synthetic lubricants.

3,000 to 5,000 with engine, synthetic. 10,000 for primary and tranny. New filter and rubber seals with engine. You mention a couple different brand synthetics. Syn 3 appears to have little detergent while there are varying detergent strenght and protectors in the other common syns. If you change from either syn 3 or switch between synthetics, I'd, after a 1,000 or so miles drop some oil out of the drain and check for dirt, carbon. If at all dirty change out filter and oil to be safe. Good luck.

From my 2 cents of research - I went down to AutoZone and got the Mobile1 Synthetics (in the Motorcycle section - separate from the car oils). Harley being an air cooled engine I side with the thought of changing more frequently than not (especially in Texas heat - oh and sitting idle during the Lone Star Rally... Ha ha... not too long though!)

me, runnin amsoil 20/50 in all 3, eng every 5K and tranny and primary every 10K. If you bought an manual you would probably save a fist full of money and enjoy sending the folks on this forum notes when you get in a pinch. Good luck

All three holes every 5K here. Use Amsoil 20-50 in crank and primary and Amsoil Severe Gear 75-140 in tranny. Works for me.
