Default Just dumped some Amsoil in my Ultra

I just got home from a road trip with my wife on back. She wanted the music blasting, which was fine with me. I just got the HK update to install in my 06 Ultra and now I can see the song titles as they are playing. Back to the Amsoil, while this music was blasting away I could hear the top end just banging and clattering away. As soon as I got home I draing the Syn3 and in went the Amsoil. In 2 miles of riding the noise was gone. That alone has sold me on the Amsoil.

The more I hear about Amsoil the more I think about getting a case. I'll tell you though, I just had my 1K service done and had Syn3 put in all three holes instead of Dino. My engine runs pretty quiet. Just as quiet with the Dino that was originally in the engine. Maybe even more quiet. Another thing I noticed is smoother shifting and it's easier to find neutural than before the Syn3. I guess Syn3 isn't all that bad after all. But I still intend to switch to a full synthetic, I just have not made up my mind as to which one I'll use. I'd prefer Amsoil for the engine and primary, but I hate to pay shipping. I'd rather pick up Mobil-1 V-Twin at AutoZone or Wally World. Problem is neither chain in my area actually stocks it. I am going to check with a couple of local Indys to see what they have.

P.S. I am going to use Redline shockproof heavy in the gear box.

I also noticed a difference when I put AmsOil into crank and tranny.. Shifting is like butter, and the engine stopped chattering... I have 1200 on that change, and no difference in noise..

By the way, my bike had dino in it for it's first 18k miles.. I have a '94 Ultra....

I just changed out to Amsoil. The engine is running more quiet and I have noticed that it does not run as hot.

For the guys that run Amsoil ---- How often do you change your fluids?

Thanks...

I talked to a guy that uses Amsoil, he just puts on a new filter every 3000 miles and tops up the oil!

there is not enough difference in additives in mobil 1 car oil and v-twin to justify the cost difference. 58K on my RK all with the car oil. i found using an AC PF53 filter that the engine was qieter than using the H-D filter (Purolator). amsoil uses Mobil 1 base stock.

I read an article published by the President of Amsoil a few years ago. Maybe someone here has it and can post it. He was upset because his daughter brought her Harley in for servicing and was told a line a B.S. about HD Syn-3 being the best and it was the only synthetic to be put in her HOG. So he looked into the matter and found out HD Syn-3 is just Conoco basic synthetic oil packaged in a HD bottle. I believe he said it was the lowest bidder to provide it to HD. If I remember right he had printed some results.

I had Mobile 1 syn in my 03 Classic and it was great. Im approaching my 1st service with my 06 Ultra and I'm just going to let the service department put regular stuff in until I can start doing my own service at the 2500 mark.
