Weight limits on a 2004 Road King Custom
Does anyone out there have a Road King Custom (2004), that still has the manual? I need to order a manual as I bought my King used, but I was curious if anyone knows what the weight limits are? On a random post on the internet, I saw it was 250 lbs.. Can't think that is accurate. I know I will need to pump up the rear suspension and adjust tire pressure, but am curious about the weight limits.... I am not that small of a guy where I can put me and momma on the bike if that is the case:-)

i am unsure, but i can give you this information. i have a friend who rides with me often, and he's got the 03 roadking custom, and he weighs about 280 and his wife about 140 ish, and they have no issues with ride. they're usually two up, so i'm sure it works for them. this is all the information i have that i can share with you as far as experience with weights and i'm sure it'd be fine if she were bigger, as they're always packed with full bags worth of gear also. ask the next time you're at the harley shop what the weights are for your bike. they'll be able to look it up for you.

I had a 2004 RK Custom for a couple of years. I just sold it, so I no longer have the manual.
I can tell you that my wife and I did a lot of touring on it.
I am 210 and she is 140ish. I put a DragonFly fairing, large touring seat, hard bags and a King Tour Pak on it. For longer trips we would stuff it to the max. Then I had a duffel bag full of crap on top of the tour pak rack.
I never did weigh the bike with the hard storage and fairing, but I would think that it was closer to a EG Classic than a RK Custom.
I would put 40 lbs. in the front and 42 lbs.in the rear tires, and then 55 lbs. in the shocks. The bike rarely bottomed out and the ride was pretty comfy. My wife regularly did 450 mile days on the back on most of our trips.
I am pretty sure that the RK Custom has a GVWR that is very close to all of the Touring bike family of Harleys, the only difference being the lower shocks in the rear.
HTH, Craig
EDIT: I went out to the garage and realized that I still have the Harley Service and Harley Parts manuals for the bike.
2004 Road King Custom Weights in pounds
Dry weight - 723
GVWR: 1259
GAWR - front: 500
GAWR - rear: 827
By the way, these GVWR are the same for all Touring models for this year.....
If you are interested in these manuals, let me know..... Craig
