I am asking because the chrome is starting to pit in some places and I was thinking of trying to get it fixed as a warranty issue. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks guys
The factory warranty will still be valid.
I have looked through my extended warranty paperwork and is very specific on transferring within 30 days. The last statement in the transfer guarantee "YOU must comply with all of the above requirements within 30 days of the date of sale of YOUR MOTORCYCLE or this contract will no longer be in force".
I would check with dealer and find out when factory warranty is up. It looks like your SOL on the extended warranty. I hope you didn't pay extra for it.

You could try calling Service Center 1-800-527-7665 for extended warranty info.

Hope you get satisfaction. A feature of the extended service plan is that it is cancellable by the original purchaser for a pro rata refund of the unused portion. So if the seller sells the bike, doesn't transer the ESP, and then contacts the MOCO for the refund, the ESP is gone since the owner of it has secured the refund.

Unless the MOCO contacts the original purchaser of the ESP, it's operating at its peril since the contractual rights are the original purchaser's to transfer or secure a refund. Unless the bill of sale says the ESP is transferred/assigned as part of the sale, what proof does the MOCO rely on when it transfers coverage to the new owner?

Well I found out today that FT. Worth H-D does not even use H-D for thier extended warranty,I was told by someone who used to work for them that they use some other company. I thought ALL warranties were through H-D,even the extented ones. Has anyone else ever heard of this before? I called FT. Worth H-D and left a message for the finance & warranty guy but he has still not called back. I am not worried about the guy I bought the bike from trying to cash in the remainder of the extended warranty,he is a real stand up guy and if at all possible he will do what he can to get me to have the warranty.

Good news,I got hold of Ft Worth H-D today & the guy that does all the financing and warranties said that they use 1st Extended and H-D for thier extended warranties. He checked on my bike and said the extended warranty is good till 2013,he said that all I have to do is bring $50 and the title to the dealer and they will transfer it over. The warranty can be used at other H-D dealers as long as Ft Worth okay's the work before it is done. I would have prefered the H-D factory warranty but for $50 this one will do. Hell,it's better then just having a sharp stick.LOL

Good to hear Jukebox. Sounds like you're good to go until 2013 now. I hope you never have to use that extended warranty.

Your 2 year HD warranty will be used first and when 2 years is up your extended warranty will kick in until 2013. So you have a 3 year extended warranty.
