Default Air in shocks...400 plus lbs. ?

My buddy is coming with us tomorrow to the Blue Ridge Parkway and he's offered to tote along my wifes fat girlfriend. They are both over the 200 lbs and we are wondering how much air to put in his rear shocks. Right now there's 25 lbs and as far as I know theres never been a passenger on the back of this bike so its uncharted teritory. I looked around and 45-ish seems to be a good guess, what do you experts recomend. And this is important since we don't want to have to stop with the broad on the back and have to pump them up in front of her, like "hey baby, your to fat for the back of a Harley" kinda thing. So lets hear what yah guess.

well, since you didn't say what year and model bike he is riding, I don't know how anyone can help you.
Different years/models=different pressures

Sounds dangerous in more ways than one. Riding two up with that kind of weight is going to more than tax the suspension. Handling, braking, steering... it all changes. I'm not kidding... he better do some serious parking lot work before he hits the Parkway... Dropping a bike is just not a good start. Not to mention she better not see this post...

OK, all seriousness aside....Its to late to call him tonight but I think the bikes an'06 or an '07. Its definitely not newer than that and we're leaving early in the morning. Am I right that 50 is the MAX PSI? If so, is that the max safe number or is that the the most you can put in without wrecking the shocks? or is that the same thing?

I do think if you over fill them it can be an issue. I think 09 was the big change in shock pressure, maybe someone with a 06 or so can chime in, should be in the owner's manual

The pre-09's are a lot more sensitive on the adjustment. I'd say to add 10 lbs of pressure to whatever he normally uses and he should be fine.

You however might have some problems if your wifes 200lb friend finds out you called her fat and she wants to kick your ***!
