How to access aux. switch

My experience was that it blew the fuse when starting the bike if plugged into the lighter. Worked fine if I started the bike then plugged in, but it seemed to have an extra draw to "kick" the unit on when I started the bike. Not sure if hard wiring it would change that, but I just worked around it knowing what the problem was.
Moral of the story though - if you do have it plugged into the CL and all your guages go blank when you start up - the 15 amp fuse is easy to replace, just make sure you have spares stuck in the holder.

The HDI connector near the headlight plug is where I have mine connected. It is an unused plug and a good choice, but if the OP wants to be able to use the ACC switch for the GPS he can splice into the orange wire at the switch. If he just wants a 12V source with no switching ability the O/R wire at the ACC switch will work, but the HDI connector would seem the best if no additional switch is needed. All GPS's I've seen have on-off switches and I don't see why you wouldn't just use it for switching.

Why are you guys going under the seat?? There's power to draw from all over the place under the fairing. I pulled power for my gps from the hot to the cigarette lighter. Drilled a small hole in the fairing, installed a rubber grommet and ran the wire through it. Wiring it to the aux switch seems like a waste to me.

The ACC switch has a plug located under the seat, on top of, or maybe in front of the battery. It's a four-pin plug. Save that one for things like heated gear, where the controller is mounted more rearward on the bike.
The ACC plug will look like this - the cap has been pulled out,

The GPS itself won't pull enough to blow that fuse, but the corrosion forms a short circuit that will.
If that is the case, it will blow any 15 amp fuse it is pulling power through.
