I was in PA (gettysburg) this weekend and saw a maryland rider up there who took his/her helmet off once they crossed the state line. they had a helmet strapped to the top of each saddlebag and it didnt look bad. Since my helmet doesnt fit in my saddle bag i suppose this is a good solution. Question is - how did they do that?

Yea, i can bungee it on but it isnt a clean look.

I think the helmets vibrating on the bags would eat the paint up, therefore better on the skull.

 

I think you should keep it strapped to your head were it belongs.

 

You could make it work if you had the "Lid Sac" brand lid covers. They have velcro loops to hold on duffle bags, but helmets would work too.

 

JP's have one in the book where it gets strapped to the passenger seat.

 

Hmmm, don't know how they pulled that one off.

I live about 2 miles from CT where there's no helmet law. Sometimes I leave it on & sometimes I take it off. It's nice to have a choice.

When I take the lid off I usually un fasten my seat from the bike and slip the helmet strap under the seat and then secur the seat again. Works like a charm.

I suppose if I had my back rest on the bike I could strap the helmet onto that.

 

websterdan's right. While doin' Rt 6 in PA last year, we met a guy who had just picked up his new bagger and was breaking it in on Rt 6. He latched 1 helmet to each bag. and scratched the s**t outta the paint.

If there's a trick to it. He sure didn't know what it was.
