Default 08 Ultra unwanted starter engagement

2008 Ultra starter engages while driving for no reason. Happening more often. Pull selnoid wire off and stops. Shut off while happening yesterday and went to restart to verify and only pushed run switch and bike cranked/started did not push start switch. Coulld have been disasterous if did not have clutch released and in neutral. Dealer said never heard of this but am leaving it Saturday for repair. (warranty) I fix Fords for a living(35 years) and may have to figure this out myself. Any suggetions? switch or relay? My Harley tech is one of the best.

My bike did that, turned out to be the starter button itself. For me anyway.

the starter and kill switches come as an assembly...they will need to be replaced....
i have seen a few with the same exact problem. The tell tale story is when you said you just turned the kill switch on without hitting the starter button and the bike turned over.

I had that happen on a then new '91 Ultra on a Sunday afternoon about 300 miles from home. Took the starter switch apart on the side of the road and moved some little wires around, redistributed some greese around in the housing and put it all back togeather. Never had any more problems.

Default It appears to be fixxed

Tech tried relay/checked wires in fairing then remembered in the past I have told him that at times when pushing start switch nothing happened. replaced switch assemblies and it seems ok. It did act up on tech when I arrived at dealer after riding in rain for 30 miles. Has been ok since Saturday.
Thanks to everyone. You were right on!
