Default Lower Fairing Question...

I get on craigslist almost everyday. Well, today I got on and a listing had just posted for a set of lower fairings with mounting hardware and factory glove box's for 150.00. I impulsively ran out and bought them. I got to thinking I should have consulted all the guru's on here before I did that. These are non vented which I think means they are of an older style. I have a 2009 street glide. Are these going to work? Will my bike run hot due to them not having the vents? What year went to vented? Thanks for the help in advance.

I have the non-vented ones on my 2008 RG and rode with them in Sturgis this summer. No issues, but I could feel the extra heat on my legs.

Most non vent lower fairings that I have seen are for road glides. I would say that street glide & ultras get the vented lowers about 98% of the time. Do they have a part number on them?

If they are vivid black and for a road glide I will buy them from you.

HD has made two types of non-vented lowers. One-type was the predecessor to the vented lowers and were OEM on Ultras up to model year 2003; 2004 and later get vented lowers. If these are the type of non-vented lowers you bought, they'll fit your bike fine.

HD used to list these non-vented lowers in the P&A catalog, along with the vented lowers and the second type of non-vented lowers. This second type of non-vented lowers is for Road Glides. These won't fit EG's, RG's or SG's.

Thanks guys. I believe they came off an 02 ultra. I will keep my fingers crossed until I try them I reckon. I cant find a part number on the fairings or glove box's. Oh well, if they don't work, they were only 150.00 I guess.

If there from an Ultra, they'll fit. They will be a little hotter than the vented ones but should be no big deal.

If they fit you may be able to add after market vents.

Try them for a while, I have wasted more than $150 before on my bike. LOL

As was said before, you can always add aftermarket vents to those if you don't mind doing the install.
