Default I need a Harley..been away for 6 years

Hello had Harley in 2003 but went to other brands for a few years and now I'm ready to come back...this is the story from Saturday..

I love the looks of the street glide...Nice bike!. So today I went to buy one. They had a red 09 two weeks ago and Thats The one I wanted to buy today. Well It was sold and they had a silver...not the worst color so I decided It would do. Before I said... I do I wanted to ride it...the loner wasn't there and all they had was this new on the floor 09. The sales man finally offered to let me drive the new on the floor 09 Street Glide. I am so glad he did. It was 45 degrees and I got suited up and took off. It was very windy and the bike handled well. But my helmet visor collected all the wind..very turbelent for the driver. The ride was ok but not great on one road I thought I lost a kidney. I still was going to buy it when I returned to the dealer. But as I pulled in I said why not drive an Ultraglide and then I'll know. When I mentioned to the salesman he didn't have a loaner but reluctantly said I could drive a new on the floor 09 Ultra. Why not I needed to know if there was a huge difference. Well off I went on a new 09 ultra and all I can Say is WOW. Huge difference in comfort (seat) and wind protection. The ride was also much smoother and I took the same roads on both demo rides. The Street glide handled very nice but not a huge difference between them on handling. The ultra is the one for me. The age of my seat is what I need to listen to not the very nice cool look of the Streetglide. So back to the shop and the sit at the sales desk for the $ damages. I thought with the sticker and it being a 09 out the door at less than 21K was the number I needed to hear. The best he came up with was $21800. So I told him to call me if they wanted to sell this 09 otherwise I would shop and probably go with a 2010 in the spring. He is going to run it through his sales manager and call me. If they call I guess I'll buy it...if not I'll shop for a good used Ultra or wait till spring for a 2010.
I wish the street glide was the ultra but it's not...so I am a geezer and I should accept that. Just my morning at the Harley Shop..I feel releived to know now what I know.

Good luck, for $800 difference you will probably be receiving a call.

Being only 5'7 I had pretty much made up my mind that if I bought a new bike it would be the street glide. After getting much more educated on this site on tailoring bikes to your individual needs and sitting on all different models I'm not so sure anymore. That Police Officer edition Ultra is tempting. No rush though, still loving the '02

If your heart is still talking about the SG you can easily and cheaply correct the buffeting issue. Replace the windshield with a taller one and add the lower faring wind deflectors. The deflectors will stop the air from coming up from underneath the fairing and is the primary root of the turbulence.
