Default Tank CB console question....

Im trying to take the CB console off the tank. The 4 screws are loose but not coming out and now will not tighten. What's the deal? Any ideas? Thanks.

I ran into the same problem.inside the gas door ther are 3 allen screws, and the oring around the filler neck, and then 1 screw under the seat, and the whole console comes off.good luck with the weather stripping inbetween the tank and console. mine fell off 4 times, and i threw it away. If you get the console off, check the screws on the tank gauge sneder. mine wass loose and I had to romove the console again.

I just did this the other day and it was easy. Two screws under fuel door and one under the seat. It is tough to get off because of the rubber seal between the filler neck and the console piece is tight and designed to keep spilled fuel from getting underneath the console.
