Default Cam Upgrade For 88

I've been reading about the cam upgrade for the 96 motor. But what do you suggest for a 2006 ultra with a 88 and stage 1 already done.
Looking to pull a trailer next spring. Cams sounds like the way to go. but which ones and how much to have installed. I dont have the place to do it.
Thanks

Pulling a trailer, you want some low end torque. Do you want to go with gear drive or stay with chain and convert the tensioners to the new system? If you go with the new system, do you want to use the SE setup or go with the conversion kit route? That will play a part in what cam to choose. Some cams to think about depending on which route you take.....SE 204(if use SE plate kit), Andrews 26g(if go gear), Andrews 26N(if go conversion), HQ34, Woods TW6, etc.

For strictly a bolt in the andrews 21/26 are great. If your thinking of bumping compression or running an advance key the woods 6 or andrews 54h.

if you are staying 88 then go 21's. the hq34's wood 6 etc will be soft on a big bagger without a bump in compression. I have run 21's and 26's in my own bike and the 21's have better low end mid range pull. I called Doug at HQ's a few years ago and I was all set to buy the 34's and he talked me out of it. He said that he loved the way the 21's worked on a touring bike and had plans of doing a cam that was similar but had to put his resources else where becuase the new 96" had just came out so he had to work on getting cams for those.

An easy way to make torque sooner is to change the primary drive gearing from your current 3.15:1 to 3.37:1 using HD parts (EFI Touring bikes had the 3.37 gearing up through '01 model year); and Baker offers a kit with new 23T comp sprocket and chain for comparable $$$ that lowers the primary gearing to 3.42:1.

I have the HQ-0034 cams and consider them a terrific bolt-in cam; haven't thought about a 95" build since installing them 2+ years ago.

Good luck with your research.
