Default What psi tire inflation is best?

My Dunlops say 45 for 2 up riding on them. This seems high when I read all the other posts but I typically run between 40 and 45 in each one. I'm about 187 lbs. and the wife is maybe 105. Is this wrong to do. Bike seems fine, I'm just wondering.

We run our tires on the high side to increase tire life. But whatever feels right to you. A lot of it depends on the tire and how you ride as well.

Go with the tire mfg. maximum recommendation for the style tire you have on. I talk w Dunlop rep years ago and he said always to go with the max to avoid sidewall flex and heat build-up. I wear out tires fairly quickly so maybe somewhere in between to get more side wall wear. Now I'm confussed.

Don't be confused grasshopper, I have always been of the opinion that the tire manf. knows more about their tire then the bike manf does.
This was most of the problem that Ford and Firestone had a few years ago, Ford was saying inflate on the low side to improve the ride, made Ford feel good so more sales, problem was they produced to much heat and tires began to fail. Not saying the tires didn't have a fault but studies showed that had they been inflated to the Manf.'s recomendations it wouldn't have showen up as often.

I run what the tire pressure in my mannual reccommends. But seem to only get about 5500- 6000 miles out of rear tire and 10,000 out of front.Would seem i should get more life out of the rear tire.Iride solo all the time and iam not a throttle jocky.

I run 36F and 40R most all the time both solo and 2up. If I'm on a trip and 'loaded for bear' I'll pump up the rear a couple of lbs extra. FWIW - I just put a new rear tire on this past weekend. The old one came off just shy of 20k miles.

Seems like a no brainer to me. Do what the manufacturer says.
