Default cvo mufflers

Are cvo mufflers the same as the screamin eagle slip on touring mufflers? I am looking for more flow but not more noise. Want to put a stage 1 aircleaner on and tune for better throttle response and don't really want to change the mufflers but more in more out. Thanks

No they are not the same, but the flow characteristics are about the same. They are slightly louder than stock but contain a catalyst in the muffler on the 08 and older pipes.

does the dealer sell these at a reasonable cost or is ebay the best place to get these?

Are you sure about the catalyst? A friend of mine has a set of CVO's and a set of SE slip-on's that's he's used on his 08 Street Glide. I could be wrong but I don't think he's got a catalyst on the CVO's. He say's the performance is similar between the two with maybe a slight nod to the SE mufflers. The SE's are definitely louder than the CVO's.

He also says what you did, that the CVO's are slightly louder than stock. He let me ride the bike with the CVO's installed and honestly, if they're louder than stock (my 09 Ultra is box stock so far), my ear couldn't tell the difference. They really are "very" close to stock sound levels.

FWIW!
