Default Question about Clearview on a Road Glide install

Picked up a Clearview blem GT Small. In the installation instructions it says to refer to the one well nut already installed for reference to see how they go. Well the blem didn't have any installed. How exactly is each one supposed to go on???

Steve,
Screw goes through the windshield, wellnut goes behind. Put the wellnuts in the holes in the fairing. Start the MIDDLE screw and work from there to one side then the other. Make sure you REMOVE the factory rubberstrip thats attached to the fairing and use the new gasket that comes with the shield. As you tighten the screws in the wellnuts they will expand, kinda like a wall anchor. Do not tighten them too much, just snug them down. Hope this helps

Thanks Mike. A few questions.

-I assume the big washers go between the well nuts and the fairing. The smaller washers go between the screws and shield. Where do those other things go. They look like a T or some kind of insert.

-When taking the stock well nuts out do they just pop out from the front or do I have to worry about anything inside of the fairing.

-Can the hardware that Clearview provides be used with any shield or just their own.

When they swell up that will keep them from falling into the fairing the smaller washers go between the screws and shield. correctwhere do those other things go. Before they disengage the wellnuts you ought to be able to pull them out completely, still intact. Otherwise they may fall into the fairing. I lost two like this but i forgot about them til now..lol!

you can use the clearview on any windshield. I think they are better quality than the hd ones. A note john at clearview and parts guy at hd told me never reuse these. They are apparently one time use only

The one you refer to as T is the one that fills the hole in glass, from inside of glass it should be a well nut then the T washer (T part towards the wellnut, sleeve part inside glass hole ) then glass, big flat washer lastly screw.

This the best I can splain it... I just put my clearview on 2 weeks ago..

Steve,
Mark(FLTRX) is my friend. He has the same shield I have and just installed it last week. The way he splained it is correct. What you are calling a T I am referring to as big washers.

Mike,
These are the parts I was talking about.

Oh and the stock well nuts are now a two use for me. I had the stock shield already off before I ran into this little roadblock. Went ahead and put it back on until I got it sorted out.

Ok I think I got it now. So the insert goes into the shield with the wider part on the inside against the well nut?? Didn't see the replies before I went ahead and posted this. Thanks guys. I think I got it now.

And can the Clearview parts be used over again or are they one time use too???

You can prolly use these again and again but i was cautioned and there are threads on HDF about people reusing these and having them not hold together under stress(read with wind hitting it!) They are cheap enough at the HD Dealer I always have 2 or 3 new ones in my tool kit when traveling far from home. I went outside and took one of mine out to be sure. What Mark said is the deal ...thanks Mark
