Iceman, never regret doing the right thing for the right reason. I waited till I was 50 before I got a Harley. I have 5 daughters and , even though momma and me make pretty good money, family was always a priority. Always will be. Had many bikes over the years and enjoyed them all. I love the ride, I love my bike but in the realm of priorities, the bikes don't even get a nod before God, Family, Country and Job. Simple as that. If you're a Youth Pastor, studying for your Masters then you know 'all good things in HIS time'.......Get a rat bike and ride it like you stole it and BE DAMN CAREFUL because that little girl needs her father there for her.

Family is far more important than a bike. I would miss my harley, so i can understand how you feel. my four prior harleys i wish i could have kept, but a dose of reality seems to set in from time to time. Just be thankful that you have a family, and you'll find another harley when the time is right.

I just delivered my 2009 SG to her new home. I know now that thus is the best thing for me and my family but it doesn't make it any better. Before this experience I never knew what all the fuss was about Harley-Davidson. Now having owned and sold, I understand completely. I now long for the day that I can once again own a HD motorcycle but that seems to be a ways from now. The people on this forum have also changed my opinion of Harley owners as well. Y'all are great normal people that are just as passionate about their bikes as any other brand. I hope that my next bike can fill the void until the day comes again.

I had a 77' FXE that my dad gave to me upon returning from Desert Storm,so it was a very personal bike to me. I had rebuilt it twice from the frame up and was working on a third rebuild in 1996 and my son was born. The rebuild got less and less money till I finally in 1997 I had to sell her. As much as I loved that bike,I loved my family more. I waited for 10yrs till finally I could buy another bike(My VTX),I put 14,000 miles on her in 12 months. I had forgot just how good it felt to ride. A year later I bought my Grace(RG). Good things come to those who wait,Great things come to those who wait for the right reasons. I sure hope you can get something to ride around on.
