Glad you are getting this resolved to your satisfaction and hope you will enjoy your new "free" tour pak and accessories.

Also, thank you for your original thread and follow-up posts which didn't refer to the "stealership," and were't filled with profanity, or desire for imminent violence, etc.

PS: Ask the service manager to add a set of Premium Tour Pak hinges (the "-08A" updated version) to complete the tour pak.

I'll take my chances, I like the look of the chopped.

Is it possible they could f' it up a 2nd time????

In order to save the hassle why don't you just have them order a King tour pak lid. I mean there is nothing wrong with the bottom right??? That way there will need to be no drilling involved for the backrest. And because you are saving them money get them to throw in a few other freebies like the premium hinges.

I agree with Garemlin. A King Tour Pak Lid will fit a Chopped Tour Pak Bottom and a
Chopped Tour Pak Lid will fit King tour Pak Bottom. I switch out my King Lid for a
Chopped Lid Kit (PN 53112-color code) that came with all the hardware and seal. All
I had to do was switch the Lock and uninstall/reinstall the 2 hinge bolts and thether cable. That was all it took.

When the service writer was moving my bike out after the detail he backed my bike into another bike catching the tour pak lid on the mirror of another bike leaving a nasty gouge on the corner of the lid. Ok, **** happen's, I get it.

They were prepared to replace the lid...Great! Turns out, HD dosen't offer JUST the tour pak lid...WHAT????

So after some thought I said, to hell with the lid. The dealer gave me $300.00 in credit and agreeded to install the king tour pak backrest & luggage rack for the $300.00. I figured the wrap around design of the backrest would cover the gouge anyway. While waiting for the parts, I installed a Saddleman tour pak lid cover. The cover has eyelits on it allowing you to mount a full size tour bag. All well and good.

Yesterday I drop off the tour pak to the dealer expecting great things...as it turns out, I got a tour pak full of ****!!

Holy Crap! They charged $300 bucks to install a lid and back rest??? WTF! That would take a whole 15 minutes to install. They sound like the biggest rip off ever...

That suxs. At least they finally owned up to the mistake. Hope your satisfied with there offer. Its a crap shoot whether you get good service from a dealer or not. Kinda gettin' a haircut at supercuts. only way more expensive.

my understanding in reading the thread is that included the parts.

i know folks love to complain about harley and harley dealers - but the manager apologized and explained what happened the first chance he got. he offered to make it right and the op agreed to what was offered.

the tech made a mistake and the shop has agreed to make it right... that's good customer service. everyone makes mistakes, what we do to make them right is the true measure.

Basically, I am getting a complete NEW chopped tour pak, luggage rack & king tour pak backrest installed for my troubles....

Yes, that is GOOD customer service. All tolled, these "mistakes" by the dealer cost them $724.00 (new tour pak) + $119.00 (luggage rack) + $199.00 (tour pak backrest) = $1043.00 screw up!
