Well done. Don't know if i'd handle it that way but you never know? I do have a short fuse.
I had some yuppy son of Bit*h touching my paint to see how smooth it was one time at a bike night. I didn't assault him but I came very close. If my wife wouldn't had been their with me I probably would have spent the night in jail. She keep's me in line, at least she tries to

If it were me I would WANT to kick his *** as well. As a former LEO, I know this is NOT the right thing to do. At least you managed to keep the assault to a minimum.
These days there are numerous reasons not to do what you did - Law suit that could easily wipe your entire family out aside, this schmuk could have had a gun and shot you, or you could have landed a lucky hit and killed him or otherwise maimed him (then you are doing a long stretch). He is just an ignorant moron, it is not worth jeoprodizing your and your families future for it.
The smartest action would have been to check for any damage and call the police if you noticed some after you told him to get the F off your bike.
I know that is not the most popular way to handle it, I also know how hard it would be.

I CALLED THEM AND FOUND OUT WHO HE WAS FOR YOU - -
The guy was A LAWYER, actually there to inform you that you are the next heir to the Bill Gates fortune, and you only had 20 minutes to claim it - -
he was trying to call your cell, so check your "missed" calls!

I can't say what I would have done it this situation, but it may have included finding which car was his.[]
Anyway, you might want to watch your back next time you go to this establishment.......Have you ever heard of "Revenge of the Nerds?"
