If you have a quick release, where do you mount the antenna? Currently it comes thru the plug on the fascia. With the TP on, I can see it mounted off the side of it, but when its off what do you do?

I went with a Dakota Digital hidden antenna inside the front fairing.

Here are two versions on my bike. The most recent pics are following my recent repaint and rather than use HD's two-up detachable rack and mounting hardware (with the chrome hoops sticking out the back of the bike on pre-'09 bikes), I used the two-up detachable rack from Milwaukee Bagger that uses the HD backrest/solo detachable rack mounting hardware and, as part of the paint project, filled the antenna holes in the SG fascia. Here's a link to the write-up/pics of the Milwaukee Bagger installation:

And here are a couple of pics of the bike with the MB rack/tour pak mounted:

This is the same bike only before the paint project using the HD two-up detachable rack and mounting hardware:

There are several options for an antenna inside the fairing. J&M recently introduced one, but I haven't tried it. I use one that is similar in appearance to the Dakota Digital (I had one and didn't care for it) and works about the same for 1/2 the cost. Others are Tune Trapper and Biketronics.

Good luck with your project.

Here is mine with the tour pack on a solo rack. Works great for me.

i find that i don't take the TP off that much anymore, it's just too handy to toss the helmet/gloves in. If it IS off, the local radio stations still come in & there's always the CD player........ also, i've been told that another antenna can be screwed on to the relocation point, i've not tried it, but that's what somebody @ the dealership said.
