Default Question for high hp tourers...

Those of you that have 120-ish hp or more, can you still use cruise control?

I had a built Bronco years ago that had about double the stock horsepower. Cruise control was useless, as the truck would surge past the target speed and then back off. It was so frustrating it was unusable.

How do the baggers do? Is the cruise still usable?

Mine has the SE 58mm electronic throttle by wire throttle body thingy and it works perfectly with the cruise control on the 09. No issues at at all. If you hit resume at 50mph and the cruise is set to 75 then she surges forward strongly, nothing crazy.

The biggest thing withe cruise is that it wont lock in above 80mph. anyone know how to fix that??

So when are you getting 120+??

My 175 hp machine has the mechanical cruise control, it stays set all the time.Makes taking hands off the bars much more comfortable.

Well, while my friends are all going nuts with chrome, handlebars, and stereo upgrades on their new bikes, I'm just laying low at the moment. I made a few cosmetic changes, but nothing major. Saving up for my type of bling... Torque and Horsepower!

I'm waiting for the weather to get a little cooler and wetter, maybe Jan-March. I was talking with one of the local dealers. He said a properly set up Screaming Eagle Stage IV 103 build (with aftermarket cams and some other tricks) or a 106/107 aftermarket build should get me 130hp. Sounds like he likes nasty cams and nasty pipes.

To me that sounded high, so I'm shooting for a little less. He told me about 10 times my warranty would be shot. Oh well! He said as long as I don't abuse it the bike will be reliable.

We'll see what happens I guess.
