I'm trying to charge my iPod using the cig lighter outlet on my 2003 RG. The cigarett lighter works, but when I plug the charging cord and iPod in, nothing happens. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

 

Does your adapter have a fuse? Mine does - you unscrew it.

 

Not trying to be a smartass, but you do know that it's a switched plug right? If it's working for the lighter, there is no reason it shouldn't charge the ipod when the ignition is turned on - unless your cord is bad.

 

The cord/adaptor is brand new and works in the car, just not on the bike. And yes, I have the ignition on, but no juice to the ipod. Very frustrating.

 

Does the cigarette lighter from the RG work in your car ?

 

If it works ok in the car but not the bike then I have you checked for power at the cig lighter?
The only problem I have ever had is when I used a cable for the wrong generation of Ipod.

Rocky, I have the same problem with my charger cord from Sprint for my "newest" style Motorola Razr. The old Razr charged fine clipped to the clutch cable on it's cord, but the new one quit after a couple of weeks in the same application.

I have to agree that the cord itself may be at issue, because that big, nasty love-bug guts colored light glares out at me at night, but the dang phone won't charge. Ditto, the cig lighter works.

Methinks you and I got bum cords, bro...

The tit on the cord is probably not contacting the middle of the socket, it happens with some cord cigarette outlets

 

Could be slight differnces in the cig. lighter housings.I have noticed that some adaptors work good in some lighters and not in others.
