cb has to have a cb antenna if u use the cb with a fm antenna u will destroy the output of the cb. theres something about the sw of the antenna it has to be right for the cb output.

Need a SWR meter to make sure the CB antenna is set correctly. Neither will get good results from the other (CB, radio).

I have the J&M shorties on my 07 Ultra, they look good and work fine for me. I hardly every use the CB so I don't know if the distance is effected much or not.

I now have the 21" whip antennas with the cb kit from: Antenna Concepts,llc.....I had the Harley shorties previous but these are what antennas should look like. The simple install CB kit is only 15.00 to bring the SWR's in line. Reception is better than the HD shorties.

The HD shorties work OK, not as good as the whips, but I got tired of smacking myself every time I walked around the bike with the wipes.

If you can spare a few bucks, check these out.

http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....FPA-HCFM&PF=43

New from J&M. $79.99 ea. Excellent solution especially if you go with a detachable tour pak.

Here's what J&M says:

J&M’s new FLEXPOWER™ 12v powered hide-a-way AM/FM/WB antenna is THE BEST hide-a-way antenna on the market today, and will nearly equal the performance of your rear mounted antenna, for ALL THREE reception bands of AM, FM and WB, to help you eliminate altogether the rear mounted antenna on your Harley (this is from the AM/FM/WB antenna description. It's a FPA-HCFM. They have another unit, the FPA-HCCB for the CB).

This exciting new antenna is spec’d for the 1985-2010 versions of the Harley Classic (BatWing) or RoadGlide Fairing, with the factory Harley radio or aftermarket radio.

Installation is a snap, as there are no wires to cut or splice and antenna wire lead is secured in the fairing with included double sided tape clips.

Antenna kit includes complete and detailed installation instructions.

Good luck - Bob
