Default Fork Slider/Cans Install

Before long I'll be swapping out the stock sliders, fairing skirt and cans for a blacked out front end. Bike is an 06 EG Classic and hopefully someone can post some info and pics on doing the change over. I've found some older threads using the search and the pics are no longer up. Since I'm a "visual" kind of person, the pics are a BIG plus along with some input.
Difficulty ? Time ? Suggestions ? Don't mind giving it a go if it's not a big deal and saving the labor charges.

Thanks
BB

I just picked up a set last night on Ebay. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable installing them myself though. I'm curious to see what kind of responses you get. I'm pretty good with a wrench, have installed everything myself thus far on this one and my previous rides, but there's something about messing with the front end that makes me nervous.

I'm with ya on that so we'll see what kind of responses come in. I've also done bout everything else as far as mods go but not so sure if I'm willing to tackle it or not lol.

Here's my old thread. I just uploaded all the pics again as they were lost in the old forum crash.

I did it on my 05 FLHT. Get the manual, read it carefully. What helped me the most were strap wrenches and those rubber grip things you use to help open jars with. You gotta turn stuff and it gets pretty slippery. Getting the stuff to budge takes the most time.

Dawg, great info and photos. I haven't tried your trick of removing the 6mm bolt from the center of the lower fork. I've always used a 3/8 air ratchet. To me, that's the hardest part of removing the forks. I've also had difficulty removing the forks from the triple trees. I use a cloth strap wrench on the fork between the triple trees, rotate the strap wrench while pulling down on fork.

Bought mine from Impress Plating and Polishing and let the dealer do the swap for $150, including SE Heavy frok oil. Well worth it in my opinion and they back up their work.
