Default Battery died on me

I have a 2007 Road king with 6000 miles and the stock battery. I came home for lunch the other day and left the switch on ooops. Well the battery was dead of course 30 minutes later. I have it charging right now. It was at 11.5 volts. Is the battery still good or am I wasting my time charging it?

Should be fine if you charge it up with a trickle charger-don't use a regular charger it will overheat the battery and warp the plates.

Happened to me twice. Had it towed home and put in on trickle charger for three days. Battery is still going strong.

It should be trickle charged, in a perfect world. 2 amps won't hurt it for an hour, but don't leave it on overnite. It will eventually charge from running the bike, but it's better for the battery, and the charging system, to just trickle charge it to full charge.
If you get enough charge in it to start it and run the bike it won't hurt anything to let the bike charge it, but it will take awhile to get to full charge.

I would wonder why it died so quickly. I took my 06 ultra to NH for bike week a four hour run with the key on and it started right up no issues. Just my .02. I also use battery tenders that will top off the batteries but never over charge.

That seems like a waste of money to me...Most batteries last 4-5 years even without the use of a battery tender.

I'm on 4 years with my original battery, and it's strong as new. I always have it plugged into a tender when the bike's not in use..........so I'm sure that's going to extend the life a while. For $20 at Walmart, the battery tender is a great investment.

Not being a smart $$$...but getting into the habit of killing the engine with the ignition switch, instead of the kill switch, might save some heartache in the long run.
Forced myself years ago to do that and haven't had an issue like that since then.

And your battery should be alright after charging it.
