Default Starting Engine on Jiffy Stand

Ok, this is a really lame question, but I'll ask it anyways. How many of you start your engines with the bike on the jiffy stand? I always sit on my bike and have it level when I start it. (basically, trained this way by my MSF Instructor) Then I usually wait about 20 seconds or so and then put it on the jiffy stand to let it warm up while I'm putting in my ear plugs, helmet, gloves, and closing the garage door.

I was thinking that as long as I check and make sure the bikes in neutral, should be no problem starting it on the jiffy stand and letting it warm up.

What do you guys think?

Always start mine on the KICKstand, then get geared up so I don't have to wait for it to warm up. He actually told you to do it that way? Hmmm. Seems odd, what's his reasoning?

There is no reason why it would matter either way. It would be harder for me to call a kickstand a jiffy stand than to worry about if the bike was resting on it or not when I started it.

I'm usually on the bike ready to roll when I start it. I was told no news to warm it up so I just take off once started.

You don't really have to let the motor warm up but you do have to allow it enough time to become properly lubricated, 15-30 seconds according to the manual. As far as making sure it's in neutral, you can't start a late model Harley "in gear" unless the clutch lever is pulled in.

The jiffy stand is strong enough to handle you kicking it in the guts on the stand and not fall over. she jumps forward but doesnt fall off.

Mine is always started on the stand to warm it up, then I try to ride off before the neighbours start yelling about the noise...

On the stand but I always get nervous because that thing is a POS.
