Same for me ............ For you guys who think the kickstand (Jiffy stand to be HD forum correct) is a POS, seriously, time to take another look at a system that has needed no improvements over many years of service.

I am about 50 / 50 on this one too... depends on the location. But I will say that the stand on my bike has always been very stable and I have never had a concern that there would be an issue.

1st start in the morning, stand on the left, flip the ignition, verify neutral light and start. I let it warm up for however long it takes me to get in the saddle and back out of the garage. Other than that its 50/50. If I'm parked on soft ground/grass/dirt, I'll mount up before starting.

I have a 2009 FLHP and all police bikes now have the jiffy stand interconnected to the kill switch. So, I cannot start the bike when the jiffy stand is down. I do not know why HD does that on the police bikes. In fact, many times when I park the bike I put down the jiffy stand before I hit the kill switch, and then I have to remember to turn off the ignition. My 2001 FLHPI did not have this interconnect. Start mine on the kickstand all the time. He must have said something about it being sloped to one side it would not get good lubrication it should not hurt never heard of any problems.

it depends on the situation, but it really does not matter. i do pull the clutch in when starting, just an old habit.
