In my opinion, it's well worth the money. If you're stuck in traffic, it won't help cool the engine as much as if you're moving but it will help cool the engine more than if you don't have one (because it makes the oil circulate out of the crankcase). In any case, it'll help cool the engine much more than an oil temp gauge, which does absolutely nothing about it, except to tell you that it's hot, which you can feel anyway. LOL

Finally, an oil cooler is only one solution for cooling the engine. Using synthetic oil, using a fuel management system (SERT, TTS, PCIII or PCV) and using a fan will help too. By the way, I had a water cooled bike before my Ultra and it was running hot too.

You can thank the EPA and the tree huggers for it. <g>

Do both. The cooler drops the oil temp 25 to 30 degrees & the gauge lets you see what's going on.

As with all HD crap you will need the "oil gauge" and the "mounting kit" and "installed" I think it all ran me $285 in total.....and then what happened I was stuck at a stop light and my leg got really hot so I looked at the gauge. Yes it was hot, but my leg already told me that.

I put on the HD cooler because I don't do much city driving. There is an oil cooler out there that already has a fan on a termastate. http://www.ultracoolfl.com/

I don't have an oil cooler fitted but understand Jagg makes a good one. The Jagg has the turbolating action that helps prevent shear.
